A double-sided swingarm as it's cheaper than the single-sided version on the 1199 to help keep the 899's costs under control but the bonus is it's lighter than that of the 1199.
^This. The structural rigidity of the SSSA isn't on par with ours and nor is the weight. It does however cause random erections and that's gotta be worth a pound or so... Performance wise, an SSSA will NEVER outperform a DSSA... All of the critical sub components are inherently going to wear better and perform at both their peak and longevity better too...
Overall I think we are still heavier though due to the gas tank, rear subframe and engine covers
