+1 with what DarR said. I've owned the bike for over a year, 1600 miles so far and it has been nothing but reliable. There's the weird weeping hole coolant leak (apparently normal based on a disclosure from Ducati) and I've once had the bike smell of gas after the first ride out of winter storage (which I think I've attributed to me overfilling the gas tank prior to storage).

My 959 serves as a weekend joy ride. I would try my best to avoid riding it in traffic or the city. The heat, the jerkiness at low speeds, and the aggressive seating position takes its toll on me. I've ridden 6 hours in one day and my hands, butt, and feet got numb. I had to take a break every hour or two. These are new issues to me coming from a 2008 CBR600RR. I'd still do it again, and there are ways to make it more comfortable. I wouldn't call the 959 the worst commuting bike on the planet though.

I love the bike despite those shortcomings, it's a blast to whip around in the backroads. I'm looking forward to a track day with this beast.

I’ve used my 899 for commuting for the past 5 years. I’m just over 15,000 miles and the bike has never let me down. So yes, I would say it’s a reliable commuter. In traffic, yeah it’s probably not the best bike. Sometime my hand will get tired from the clutch and the bike does tend to get hot. As long as I have riding pants on, the heat isn’t much of a bother.

With commuting I was able to get 10,000 miles out of my tires. 12,000 out of my chain and sprocket. Nothing else was needed other than annual oil changes, and the required services at 600,7500,15000 miles.

The Panigale can be made much more user friendly by having the fueling attended to and also throttle spacers, the 959 is a sweet bike compared to the larger displacement Panigale and can be used as a commuter. Riding loose and not tense, also helps to be fit and supple to enjoy as a commuter or tourer, there is nothing majorly wrong with this bike.

899 - rapidbike evo/shift assist - M4 calipers/330 rotors - hel brake lines/abs deleted - oz racing - 1299 headers/termi ti cans - flat link/spring - dp rearsets - 1299 slipper/mag covers - 1299 stator/flywheel - ti bolts a plenty.

Good point. I do have the throttle spacers, which have made a huge improvement already but the throttle can still be somewhat sensitive at low speeds. Some days I can hold the throttle steady at speeds below 50 mph while other days I can't seem to find a steady spot. I think with more experience I'll be able to control the throttle better. I haven't tinkered with fueling, since the complexity sounds daunting.

I've seen videos about posture and how to be loose on a bike. Wrist position matters a lot too. One thing I'm planning to buy to help me reduce weight on my wrist while riding is stompgrips. Using my lower body to hold some of my weight should help. Any additional tips on riding loose?

Your tense because because it's a pig without proper fueling, exhaust and air/fuel ratio modifications, It's what the Panigale range needs (and all that went before it) as you know they are setup from the factory to pass very strict laws. I also mentioned in that same post #12 that you quote but omit:

I love the 959. It's a fantastic mid-size track bike. All I'm suggesting is it's best used for what it has been designed for.

So I saw someone say the 17 through 19s are the same, but no mention of the 16 in regards to it being the same as the '19. I assume that it is the same as well but figured I would ask to make sure. I was about to purchase a '19, however, someone in my area listed a '16 for $11k with 3000 miles and it seems like too good of a deal to pass up considering the cost of buying new, but wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on any new and fancy features that could have been released in the last 3 years.
