beat which 1000cc sportbikes???

I havent got a chance to meet much japanese bikes around here. west of chicago area (dekalb area). There's alot of open country roads here nearby I was hoping to ride with a few bikers if they are in the area here... but has anyone ever thought which bikes the 959 panigale can possible or can whup any literbikes (1000cc)?? I'm not asking for egotistic purpose but out of curiosity.

I was smoking guys on v4s and v4Rs last track day. granted this is on track and guys that dont ride track very well. its all relative, but laws of displacement state that liter bikes will drop you in a hurry in a straight line. s1000rr or R1 might only be 41 cc more, but it is the same weight and +50 hp give or take

The 959 was detuned to pass Euro B.S. how much horse power can be gained by retuning it do you think Mr.KarlKani , and what would that involve?
Sounds like a fun track day!

I dont know or care really, I know I gained a lot by doing akra slip ons ecu and air filter. But I also stripped a ton of weight off of my bike, prolly weighs 360-370

On a short road you're in the game where the Ducati 959 Panigale does 0-60 mph in 2.8s and will handle with the best of them.
Any stretch approaching a quarter mile or longer and you'll fall behind.
Moreover, in the case of a short drag race, it will be won or lost on the launch.

I was on a fast road ride yesterday and a BMW S1000R got the jump on me on a long straight section but I was able to hang on at about 10 bike lengths back until 145 mph when he rolled off for a corner and I went around him on the inside and checked out. Unless you are doing insane speeds in a straight line, I will put my 959 up against any of them, it all comes down to the rider once the road starts to curve.

Like my track instructor says: " Anyone can go fast in a straight line".
On a sharp twisty road, the 959 excels.

I got jumped by the same BMW S1000 yesterday while out on my 959. He had about a 1/4 mile lead before I really got going and I caught him four corners later and went around him on the outside and tucked in for the drag race to the next corner. I was using the quick shifter and pinging off the rev limiter and he was able to hang onto my wheel but unable to come around me up to about 140 mph where I rolled off. Below 140 mph I don't think there is any disadvantage relative to the literbikes, beyond that they will have an advantage but it's not huge. The 959 is not slow, BSB Racer Michael Rutter posted his lap times on all of the modern sportbikes at Donnington Park and he was only a few seconds slower on the 959 than on the fastest of the current crop of literbikes.

Full disclosure: that wasn't me.

by the way... how confident are you on the new black top? there is a gloss that doesn't inspire me to ride as hard and fast as I am used to.

I hope you're having a good riding season, @Kruz !
