Reading on MCN that the panigale gained about 7 kg just from sound deadening inside the engine and inside the fairing.

Would be lovely to scrape that junk off the tins and save a couple KG.

Probably the cheapest and easiest mod you could do to improve handling ;)

Would the interior look similar to the 899 panigale stripped down?

No idea where you would find the noise deadening pipes in there.

Good chance that we'll eventually see someone rip it apart and remove it since some might be looking to build a track monster.

It sounds like its just sound deadening on the inside of the fairings. The rest of it has been built into the crankcase I would imagine...

Yep it is - making rides lighter is an obsession for all brands - better handling + braking!

I was looking at Carbon rims/wheels - over $2000, to save this weight!

I believe this is worth reading: Ducati 899 Panigale: long term test report | MCN
yes BST wheels are totally UNREAL! a friend of mine has them on his ZX-10. For me it's not liek a night and day thing, where you're like OMG this is so different. But more of a better feeling, like wow this is nice...

Thanks for the article! If lopping off 4kg increased agility, lower unsprung mass, improved engine and braking response then how much of a improvement will you see after removing 7-14 kg?

you'll never get it all out. There's a bunch of sound deadening baked into the engine, so there's always going to be less mechanical sound and fury then the 899. Luckily the extra weight in the motor is located in an excellent place to help 'pivot' the bike. Many of the reviewers have actually praised the weight somewhat. It has feel.
