Preface- Just bought the bike used last week. Older guy owned it and didn't really know what he was getting into. After he bought it new he rode it for 100 miles and realized how uncomfortable it was for him. I came by and clearly the bike was brand new. No shown issues and overall a spotless bike so I bought it.
Issues- Bike ran perfectly for the first 400 total miles or so until around 425 miles it showed multiple caution lights, a check engine light and blinking fuel light. I checked the codes and they were listed as BBS (black box) and FAN(engine fan error). The bike ran perfectly just overheated and the fan never turned on. I limped it home and checked everything I thought it could be. BBS looked to be in good order, wiring harness leading to BBS looked fine, fuses were good. I let the bike cool down overnight and took a look at it this morning and all the check engine and caution lights are still on.
Here I am with a brand new (462 mile) Ducati that I sold my s1000rr for, with a dealer check up coming on Friday for warranty transfer, three caution lights and no good way to diagnose the problem without the dealer giving a checkup for warranty.
Has anyone had a problem similar? I am going to get a bit deeper into the bike and check more of the wiring harness in hopes the engine lights go off before my dealer visit.
Hindsight is 20/20, maybe I should have waited until after the warranty checkup to put a couple hundred miles on the bike but it's my only transportation.
Thanks
