Sounds like that's a bit of a stretch for a quote, if Ducati just said they'll keep making the 1299 FE until 2020 IF there's still demand for it that doesn't sound very realistic. I could see them continuing to make the 959 for another couple of years though.

Can someone shed some light on this:
Other than the horsepower which can be matched, why would anyone pay twice the price as the 1299S model for less equipment such as the electronic Ohlins suspension which the FE does not have?

The FE is actually an R model, it's the 1299R Final Edition. So it has the top-spec engine in it, basically the same as the Superleggera, and the racing Ohlins suspension. Plus it comes with the high-mount Akra exhaust. Plus it has a sweet paint scheme and other carbon fiber upgrades. It's a beautiful bike.

@9Fiddy9 Thanks for that. Yes it is nice but the value proposition is not there ...at least for me it isn't.
It's still a huge step-up in price even from the "R".
