It was in a comment on MCN. Not totally scientific.

Ialian pubs have confirmed that there is an Akra coming for EU residents.

But the price is a bit low considering the full Akra for 899 was priced at £3,000+ and the slip was £2,000+...
If there are any shows coming up in EU we might have a chance to see it in person their.
check it out, EU spec 959 Panigale with full Titanium Akra system. cuts 6 kg (13lbs) and gains 2 hp

That is the non-street legal version, right? Looking forward for any aftermarket exhaust complying the Euro 4!

I was under the impression the Akra cans are Euro 04 compliant and street legal. They'd sell none if it was track limited IMO...
Well, the street legal one is the 2-canned design, not the underslung. :)

Could always try getting away with having the underslung installed after, some cops don't care.

What?

AFAIK, Ducati will sell you a street legal Akra set... it doesn't make much sense for them to sell you a 2,000 exhaust system that can't be used on the street. They're marketing the 959 as the perfect bike for someone who rides on the street but wants to play on track from time to time...

Do you have a source claiming the Euro Akra is closed course only?

I know the US spec underslung would not be legal in Europe, but like I said I was under the impression the USA spec Akra and the Euro 04 Akra option were different pipes...
On cell phone:

EU version - 2 exhaust options from Akra, the double can (street legal) and the underslung (racing).

959 Panigale » Equipment

US version - atm only one Racing version from Akra

Please correct me if I'm wrong

No you're not wrong...I'm just not sure if the 'Racing' exhaust is limited to closed course use. The word 'Racing' can be a powerful meme in the marketing materials...

I'm just not sure, no one is using clear language.

from MCN:

But if you don’t like the new pipes, the good news is you can buy a set of official aftermarket 899-style Akrapovic exhaust cans, or if you live outside of the EU the 959 still comes with the sexy stubby silencers.
from 44teeth:

And back to that exhaust, the aftermarket Akrapovic pictured shaves 1.6kg over the stock peashooters but does little to power or noise levels.
Regardless, according to Superbike you can just use an aftermarket 1299 exhaust as the pipe diameters are the same... (will prob fuuck with the ECU though)

Will that mess up of the ECU impact anything that could cost us in the future?

The under slung Akrapovic will not be street legal in just the same way that the full system on my 1299s is not street legal. The crazy thing is that both systems are way too loud for the noise limits on most UK track days! WTF?
The UK has noise limits for tracks? But that's where you go to make noise and race!

Hmm that's odd then that the pubs are saying the underslung Akras don't make more noticeable noise.
Even if it's not street legal, the chances of getting stopped for it have overall seemed quite slim to me, worth the risk. Plus there's a chance if you do get caught that the first time you'll get a warning, next time around... not so lucky. At least then you'll know what to do next.

It's the side mount Akrapovic system that is said to make little difference to noise (or power)
I the noise the only thing that makes it so that the exhaust is restricted to close course or not?
I'd say it is both the noise and the emmissions (catalyst modified or removed).
