The devil is how the decibels are measured. I just added an SC Project slip-on to my Monster and was concerned about the new roadside testing now performed by some Quebec police officers cracking down on loud pipes. I used my stock Panigale as a benchmark. I figure I'd be OK if the SC Project is relatively no louder than the stock 959 which is as loud as you can get off the showroom floor in North America. I measured both bikes using SAE J2825 (50cm from the exhaust at a 45 degree angle) and if I remember correctly, the Panigale was about 97db's at a 2000 rpm idle but above 100 at 2500 rpm.
BTW, A stock 959 Panigale would not pass the Quebec Sound Standard Test which is somewhat stricter than SAE J2825. The good news however, is that this standard does not replace Canadian regulations for the approval of motorcycles for the Canadian market.
