Don't you have to pay some kind of fee to bring it back across the border?
Dutiable Entry
Foreign-made vehicles imported into the U.S., whether new or used, either for personal use or for sale, are generally dutiable at the following rates:

Auto

2.5%

Trucks

25%

Motorcycles

either free or 2.4%

Duty rates are based on price paid or payable. Most Canadian-made vehicles are duty-free.

As a returning U.S. resident, you may apply your $800 CBP exemption and those of accompanying family members toward the value of the vehicle if it:

Our price 16850.00 plus taxes

19373.00 tax included Canadian

Exchange rate at 1.42

13556.08 us funds

Add the 2.5 % 339.00

Total for the bike would be approximately us funds would be 13895.00 all in

I think us pricing is 15745.00 plus taxes including transport and prep

@8% 1259.60

Total including taxes 17004.00
Subtract 13556.08

Total savings 3448.00

That's if I calculated this properly

Even if you did calculate it correctly I have to mentioin that there is also an uncalculated value on time. a process like this can be extremely time consuming with potential headaches as well. is it worth the $3,000? Maybe if you can spit over the boarder, but anything further and I think not...
That's actually quite a bit of savings if you're close enough to the border which also happens to have a Ducati dealership close by. But for Canadians there isn't any wiggle room.
Any issues with this?

Are there any catches to this? Any problems registering it in the states, bringing it across the border, with the warranty from Ducati, or with resale value down the road? If not, I might opt to do this...
I doubt there will be any issue with it being registered in the U.S. but there might be some limitation when it comes to insurance.

FYI, I called a ducati dealer in Canada today and they said that they cannot sell new ducati bikes to US citizens. They said that I could come in and buy equipment or a used bike from them but could not buy a new bike from them. They said that Ducati places this restriction on them so they're not competing across the border. I realize that many of you may already know this but I figured I'd let everyone know what I found out. I understand why Ducati does this. But I had to ask.
That's strange, ask them to show you the documentation of this, you have cash in hand pay for the bike and bring it home

They can't prohibit selling a bike to you unless the government issues a sales restriction to U.S citizens.

I'll ask my lawyer if this is possible.
