Ducati has just launched a new datalogging app for Multistrada owners... now not for anything, but would that not be the perfect tool for aspiring hot rods on the race track...

just debuted... but IF... Ducati gives the 899 an inertial platform like the R1 and ZX-10 that most certainly becomes possible...

Not bad for an app if it's as accurate as they market it to be.

Guess they calculate the max rpm by your speed.

well if the bike is talking to your phone im sure the bike knows what RPM its kicking out... RPM and speed are not always repeatable... I could be running at 12,000 rpm in first or 8,000 in second and do ostensibly the same speed...

Doubt the app will be able to connect to your bike or at least I have not heard of something like this before.

what are you talking about...

The apps selling feature is that it logs your bikes data, ergo they're communicating...

This was a smart move, Ducati keeps setting themselves apart from the rest and this helps to kick it up a notch.

I bet this might push other bike makers to also create something similar, something for a much larger audience.

Yamaha already offers something similar on the R1

A version of it for more mainstream models will be great to have, 250 & 300cc bikes as an example.

only lap times. an inertial platform can log telemetry

Full color TFT screen with legible letters and numbers! I don't want to be squinting at tiny numbers on the screen while riding.

Good backlighting will be key too for riding during the evening and night, will need to see it clearly, being ducati that should be the case.

Another situation is when its super bright out with the sun glaring down, much like what you'd experience with your phone.

Thats why i like the color TFT. when backlit, the colors help to distinguish information vs black and white blob...

The display in many ways is a small part of the bike, but it can make a big difference. Almost all of the value of the bike is in the performance, but having a nicer display with more features and a nicer appearance can be a cherry on top that adds some extra value to the bike.

Indeed, especially when it comes to a product like Ducati, it's that type of thing you expect from them, making for a well rounded package.
