Hello! The dealer in Barcelona said the red colour has a kind of varnish coating that the white one doesn't...

Now, checking in the 899 forum, it is being said that this protective coating didn't come with the 899 but only with the 1299...

What do you think? I love the white one, but it is more fragile... Maybe with a 3M coating or sth similar it should be enough to keep the bike like brand new...

I would still go with the white even without the varnish coating purely for aesthetic reasons and if need be, there are other paint protection options out there. I've heard good things about Xpel so maybe that could be an option.

After checking on manuals, it seems the red colour has the paint and protective layer all-in-one.

The white finish has 3 layers. Any of the choices would be benefitted for equal from a protective layer such as 3M or others, as mentioned above.

That might have to do more with getting white to appear in a specific way. Either way though, it's always better to take it another step and protect it.

The 3 white layers are for the finishing, but in theory, it should last longer than the red one. I'd suggest a protective coating though - 3M-style or kind of Meguiar's liquid protection.

3M clear bras generally provides decent protection but if it ever does wear out the undertail will be the first area to go.

I'm all for paint protection film, it requires the paint to be flawless since you're locking in the paint at its current state under that film, plus when it comes to rock chips or damage overall it should help to reduce the impact or even prevent it entirely from getting to the paint.

The Ducati Scrambler comes in yellow and orange. Guess they're limiting the higher cc bikes to a few select racing colors while the fun smaller bikes get a bit more customization.

I live in the Bay Area. It's been wet here, really really wet. The weather clears on Friday so I'll pick it up then. I haven't even sat on it yet.
